Modernity and Tradition

Over the last 40 years, the Fasano Group has experienced four landmark moments. It began with the opening of the first restaurant, where Gero Fasano discovered his passion for gastronomy. The opening of the second Fasano defined its gastronomic identity. The third milestone was the opening of Hotel Fasano in São Paulo, introducing the Group to a new sector. The fourth crucial moment was the partnership with JHSF in 2007, driving international expansion. With 10 hotels in operation across Brazil, the United States, and Uruguay, Fasano’s excellence also permeates its 30 restaurants, as well as Emporio Fasano.

  • 1902

The history of Fasano began in 1902, when Vittorio Fasano, a Milanese patriarch of the family, arrived in Brazil and opened the Brasserie Paulista at Praça Antonio Prado, in the historic center of São Paulo.

  • 1947

Following Vittorio's death, his youngest son, Ruggero, was sent to Italy by his brothers to complete his studies at the Royal School of Moncalieri, near Turin. Ruggero would return to the country and soon reassume the family's gastronomic legacy, reopening Fasano in 1947 on Rua Vieira de Carvalho, also in the city center.

  • 1958

In 1958, it arrived at Avenida Paulista, in the Conjunto Nacional, where Ruggero Fasano opened a confectionery and established a performance venue in the winter garden whose history, for many, brings back pleasant memories. Graduation parties were celebrated there, and international acts such as Nat King Cole performed to the applause of celebrities like David Niven, Marlene Dietrich, and Ginger Rogers.

  • 1980

In 1980, Ruggero's son, Fabrizio Fasano an executive with a degree in business administration from the United States and the former owner of a beverage company called upon his son, Gero, to open a new restaurant at Shopping Eldorado. At the time, Gero had plans to pursue a career in filmmaking, but the strong bond he shared with his grandfather Ruggero was decisive in his choice to carry on the family's tradition of hospitality, under Fabrizio’s experienced supervision.

  • 1982

A new Fasano, small and refined, emerges on Rua Amauri. Years later, in 1990, the restaurant moved to Rua Haddock Lobo, with an architectural project that did justice to the kitchen's ambitious goal: to be a landmark in the city's finest gastronomy.

  • 2003

In 2003, with the opening of the Hotel Fasano São Paulo Jardins, the restaurant moved inside the hotel, located on Rua Vittorio Fasano. The opening of the Hotel marked a new challenge for the group and the realization of a dream for Gero.

  • 2007

In 2007, the renowned Hotel Fasano Rio de Janeiro opened at the city’s most charming spot, right on Ipanema Beach. That same year, there was an important merger with JHSF a company with over 40 years of experience in the real estate sector and a significant presence in the shopping mall and corporate real estate markets which, among other things, enabled the opening of new properties in the following years.

  • 2010

In 2010, the first Hotel Fasano outside the country opened in the Uruguayan seaside resort of Punta del Este. The following year, Hotel Fasano Boa Vista consolidated the brand in the luxury hospitality industry.

  • 2017

In 2017, the FRAD.E Condominium began a new chapter in its history with the opening of the Hotel Fasano Angra dos Reis.

  • 2018

The opening of Hotel Fasano Belo Horizonte marked a new era for the city's hospitality. The opening of Hotel Fasano Salvador took place that same year, housed in a landmarked building that for 45 years served as the first headquarters of the A Tarde newspaper. Located at Praça Castro Alves, it offers an unparalleled view of the Baía de Todos os Santos.

Fasano Fifth Avenue was the Group’s second international project in partnership with JHSF. It features a project designed by architect Thierry Despont in a prime New York City location: across from Central Park, on Fifth Avenue, between 62nd and 63rd Streets. That same year, Hotel Fasano Trancoso arrived at Itapororoca Beach one of the region’s most privileged stretches situated within the Reserva Trancoso complex. Designed by architect Isay Weinfeld, the property features 40 bungalows distributed across a 300-hectare estate—100 of which are environmental preservation areas—set amidst a secluded landscape of native forest, blue skies, and warm waters.

Rooted in the Fasano family history and its Italian heritage, Fasano Restaurant New York combines the Group’s service and gastronomy with over 120 years of tradition. The menu features classic Milanese dishes, faithfully prepared, such as the Ossobuco Alla Menighina con Risotto Alla Milanese, Tortelli di Vitello con Fonduta di Parmigiano Reggiano, and the traditional Bollito Misto, complemented by a wine list curated by sommeliers Manoel Beato and Danio Braga.

The project brings together a bakery, vegetable garden, rotisserie, grocery store, a wine cellar with over 6,000 labels, and a terrace featuring a Caffè and Panetteria, with a special highlight on the Fasano Casa collection.
